CHALLENGE DETAILS

Your trekking adventure begins in Jinshanling with a vigorous ascent upwards, mounting thousands of steps which loop through the mountains on both sides of the Gubeikou Gateway.

This trek is physically demanding but also hugely rewarding, when you see the beautiful, vast mountain ranges surrounding you. Your imagination takes you back through several centuries to when the Great Wall was Imperial China's frontline of defence.

On completing the challenge, you will head back to Beijing to discover some of its many attractions, including Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City.

The following items are included in the cost of the expedition:

  • Return international flights from London to Beijing
  • Airport departure tax
  • Overland transfers
  • All accommodation
  • All meals during the itinerary
  • Drinking water on trekking days, support team (drivers and guides)
  • Necessary back-up facilities
  • Provision of first aid supplies

HOW IT WORKS

This is an open challenge which means you can take part and raise funds for any of the charities listed. The payment options are explained below.

Minimum sponsorship option
This option requires you to pay the above registration fee at the time of booking and pledge to raise a minimum amount of sponsorship for your nominated charity. The charity will then cover the full cost of the challenge out of the sponsorship you raise. The amount retained by the charity varies between challenges - full details are included in the challenge information pack.

Self funder option
This option requires you to pay a registration fee at the time of booking and pay the final balance to cover the full cost of the challenge before your departure. As you have covered the full cost of the challenge yourself, 100% of any fundraising is kept by the charity - full details are included in the challenge information pack.

Full details of all funding options are included in the challenge information pack we'll send you - just select a charity and complete the request form.
