Challenge details

This challenge takes you far from the beaten track and away from the busy Inca Trail. You will witness magnificent scenery as you glimpse a culture which has remained untouched for centuries.

You will have time to acclimatise in the ancient Inca capital of Cusco, as you visit colonial Spanish churches and the iconic Inca ruins. You then make your way to the secluded Lares Valley.

Trekking across these breathtaking valleys you will meet traditionally dressed Andean farmers in brightly-coloured ponchos, looking after herds of Llamas. You will have the unforgettable experience of meeting local, rural communities and visit a school which is supported by Charity Challenge.

The region is also the home of the BaƱos Del Inca, Southern Peru's best hot springs. Located at an amazing 2,667m altitude, these springs offer magnificent vistas of snow-capped peaks and glaciers such as Pumahaunca and Mounts Veronica. Further along the route, you will see the awe-inspiring sight of the sparkling blue glacial lakes.

You will finally have free time to discover the ruins of the Incas' Lost City of Machu Picchu. These stunning pre-Columbian ruins are situated high up, between two peaks in the Andes. Archaeologist Hiram Bingham rediscovered the ruins in 1911 and today they are known as one of the most mysterious and beautiful sites on Earth.
