About the club York Mountaineering Club is a friendly club for Climbers and Mountaineers in the York and Yorkshire region. As a club we have been around since 1948 and we have a long history of welcoming new members and helping people to progress their mountaineering skills.

Meeting places

The Fox Inn
Thursday night is the Socials night and is preceded by a visit to the Leeds or York Climbing Wall or local crag followed by the odd jar in the The Fox Inn on Holgate Road. We meet in the pub at 10pm.

Oaklands Sports Centre
There are often groups of York Mountaineering Club members on the wall at Oaklands sports centre. Just ask one of the instructors to point us out and you will be welcome to join us.

Leeds Climbing Wall
Trips to Leeds climbing wall are often arranged during the week and you should check the clubs forum to arrange a lift
