Jordan has been a melting pot of different cultures for centuries, and remnants of these cultures remains today. The country offers beautiful scenery, historic castles and impressive Roman ruins, in addition to more unique sites such as Petra and the Dead Sea. This tour gives a comprehensive introduction to all of these allowing you to enjoy and learn all about this fascinating country.
Following your arrival in Amman, your tour begins with a tour of some of Jordan's Roman remains, which includes Amman's impressive amphitheature. Leaving Amman behind the Desert Highway takes us south to Aqaba, where we spend an evening relaxing beside the shores of the Red Sea.
Our next stop is the beautiful desert scenery of Wadi Rum with its towering rust coloured rocky 'jebels'. We include a a jeep safari through the desert here, a traditional Bedouin lunch and an overnight stay in a Bedouin style camp.
The tour then takes you to the 'lost' Nabataean city of Petra, where we enjoy a full day, exploring, and learning about the way the tombs and buildings were carved into the mountains, and admiring the many colours in the rocks. We include a 2 day entry ticket here to ensure you don't miss out on anything. We also include a tour of the much less visited site of Little Petra, located close by.
Our our journey begins to take us north again, we travel along the historic King's Highway through villages and winding up and down many deep Wadis. Along the way we will make stops at the old crusader castle of Kerak, and to enjoy spectacular views across to Israel from Mt. Nebo. We also make a stop in the town of Madaba to see the incredibly well preserved mosaics.
From Amman we have a full day of tours tothe impressive ruins at Jerash, which is thought to be one of the best preserved Roman sites in the Middle East, and also the Dead Sea. Whilst at the Dead Sea we have time to swim in the strange salty waters, and to enjoy some of the famous local spa treatments before returning to Amman for our final night.
Extensions are available to visit the Baptism Site at Bethany, Ajloun Castle and Umm Qais in Jordan.
