Itinerary

Arrive in Betws-y-Coed, the gateway to Snowdonia National Park, ready to check in to your hotel from 15:00. Transfers can be arranged ahead of travelling.

Your welcome meeting will take place before dinner for you and your family. How better to get to know the rest of your group while enjoying locally produced food as you look forward to sharing experiences with other like-minded travellers and watch your family connect with new friends.

  • Day 2 | Canyoning

Get ready, you’re going canyoning! Climb, scramble, jump and splash your way through the challenging terrain of a hidden river gorge for a truly fun but physically demanding experience. It’s a full day out in a stunning part of North Wales – enjoy the views as together you abseil down waterfalls and leap from rocks into the river below!

Enjoy a free evening with your family in Betws-Y-Coed, winding down after the physical activity of canyoning.

  • Day 3 | Whitewater rafting

After a hearty breakfast and a short transfer put on your wetsuit, jump on your raft and head off for a morning of whitewater rafting. The Tryweryn River is a famous dam-release rafting location in Wales. Ride upper Tryweryn’s natural, Welsh mountain whitewater rapids in an adrenaline-fuelled morning!

Back in Betws-y-Coed you can enjoy the remainder of your afternoon exploring more of the village and the surrounding area. Why not take a walk up to Llyn Elsi or peruse the village gift shops before you enjoy a free evening.

  • Day 4 | Private island retreat

Pack your bags, you’re going on a real adventure! Your family adventure tour continues with the next two days spent on a remote private island. Take a short transfer to the coastal hop-off point for the island where you’ll board a RIB boat to take you over to your private island retreat.

Enjoy the fresh sea breeze as you cross the water to arrive on your very own island. Spend the afternoon exploring this incredible wildlife haven before settling down for the night with a hearty dinner in the small bothy-style cottage.

  • Day 5 | Island wildlife spotting

Wake up to the peaceful sounds of rolling waves, enjoy a wholesome breakfast and take a stroll around the island. A wildlife lover’s dream; the remote island is home to thousands of nesting birds including Guillemot, Razorbills and Cormorants, as well as the rare Chough. There is also a unique population of black rabbits on the island, believed to have been bought over from France many years ago! Venture down to the island’s lower shores where seals can be spotted lounging on the rocks and bobbing around in the ocean.

It’s now time to leave the wildlife idyll and hop aboard the RIB boat and head back to the mainland. Here you can enjoy some free time to spend in the bustling coastal town before departing for the next location, Trearddur Bay, with its charming seaside hotel. Time to appreciate the luxury of a hot shower and a comfy bed!

  • Day 6 | Kayaking

After a tasty breakfast, it’s time to pop your wetsuit on and take to the water – this time by kayak! Kayak, meaning ‘man boat’, were boats originally used for hunting. Now they are repurposed as one of the best ways to explore the coast and appreciate wildlife up close.

As you paddle along the stunning and varied Anglesey coastline, keep an eye out for the resident Atlantic seal population. Peregrine Falcons, Cormorants and Shags are also common sights.

After your morning activities, you can take the afternoon at your own leisure. Take a walk around the town or grab some fish and chips to eat on the beach.

TREARDDUR BAY
This beautiful sandy beach on the north west coast of Anglesey is the ultimate destination for your family adventure.
  • Day 7 | Coasteering

Enjoy a free morning to relax and explore the shops and cafes of Trearddur Bay. Take a walk along the sandy beach or visit a nearby attraction such as South Stack RSPB.

This afternoon get ready to jump, climb, scramble and swim your way along the coastline of Anglesey! Coasteering combines the best of rock and water-based activities, and North Wales offers one of the best coasteering experiences you can find. Scramble across rocks, get swirled around in the water and climb tough walls as far as you can before crashing back into the waves.

It’s a truly exhilarating experience and a fantastic way for you to get up close and personal with the rocky Welsh coast for your final day of adventure.

  • Day 8 | Check out

It’s the last morning of your family adventure holiday, so it’s time to pack your case and look back on the great week of new adventures and memories you’ll have to take home with your family.

Caring for the world as you do

This adventure supports local, independent businesses. Local guides are always used – people who will give you a more authentic experience and share the hidden secrets only local adventurers can bring. And because this is their home, they have a truly active interest in caring for their environment.

The carbon footprint of all trips is measured and reduced to be as low as possible. Any carbon that is yet to be mitigated is off-set through a local tree planting project. One tree exceeds what is needed to offset the emissions of your low carbon adventure holiday.

Here is a summary of the Sustainability Policy:

Economic responsibility

  • Keeping it local

Working exclusively with local, independently-owned businesses to ensure your money goes straight into the communities that you're visiting.

  • Fair pay for quality service

Treating partners fairly for the high standards of service they deliver to you, whilst still ensuring value for money.

  • Supporting local producers

Local, independent shops, accommodation, bars and eateries are used and encouraged.

Environmental responsibility

  • Low carbon travel

Ensuring the carbon footprint of this adventure is offset by planting native broadleaf trees, including oak, ash and birch.

Responsibility is taken for ensuring the carbon footprint of your travel is offset. By working with the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley AONB, the unavoidable carbon emissions created by travel are offset, but also new, biodiverse woodland areas within the UK are created that will benefit both the planet and the community. Planting native broadleaf trees, including oak, ash and birch, is helping to increase the available natural habitat for the UK’s native wildlife. Species such as bullfinches, beavers, the brimstone butterfly and many more are all benefitting from this.

  • Avoiding single-use plastics

Reusable aluminium bottles are provided on arrival at your accommodation and packed lunches use more sustainable wrapping such as paper bags or wax paper wrap.

  • Locally sourced food

Accommodation and catering partners have been carefully selected based on their commitment to sourcing local produce, organically produced wherever possible.

  • Blue Flag Award

Partnering with one of the first boat tour operators in the UK to be awarded the prestigious Blue Flag Sustainable Boat Tour Operator status.

Social responsibility

  • Small group tours

The primary concern with tourism in the UK’s wild spaces is to ensure it only has a positive impact on the local communities and culture so for this reason small group trips never exceed 15 guests.

  • Live like a local

Learning the history and culture of a region plays a big role in your travelling experience – it’s what brings a place to life.

  • Read the landscape

The historical significance of the area is brought to life by the local guides who help you understand the features of the landscape.

  • Learn the language

Keeping local languages alive is sacred, so you’re encouraged to learn simple words and phrases during your time on the adventure.

  • Understanding farming culture

Respecting the countryside code and understanding farming practices are important for visitors to the area.
