Kilimanjaro charity challenges


An inactive volcano and Africa's highest mountain at 5,895 meters (19,340 ft), the trek up Kilimanjaro has become one of the most popular trekking challenges.

There are several trekking routes up Kilimanjaro - Marangu, Rongai, Lemosho, Shira, Umbwe and Machame. Of all the routes, Machame is by far the most scenic although steeper route up the mountain. The Rongai is the easiest camping route and the Marangu is also easy, but accommodation is in huts. As a result, this route tends to be very busy and ascent and descent routes are the same.

Kilimanjaro is a very popular charity challenge trek with many charities offering places in return for raising sponsorship. Have a look through the challenges below - then select 'Challenge details' for more information and details of charities involved.
