As well as being profoundly exhilarating, launching yourself off a cliff on a charity abseil is an effective way of getting people's attention and raising funds. Elaine Aronson, timeoutdoors' Challenges Editor, outlines the appeal.
Abseiling is thrilling, terrifying, adrenaline-fuelled - and an unforgettable experience. And what better way to make sure you don’t chicken out at the top than the promise of a healthy pile of donations waiting for you at the bottom? The opportunity to raise money for a charity of your choice can often provide you with a level of inner strength you never knew you had.
CONQUER YOUR FEARS
Whereas other charity challenges will provide the platform for you to improve your health and fitness, perhaps the best side-effect of taking part in a charity abseil is the opportunity to face and conquer your fears. Of course, if those fears don’t exist, then it’s simply an epic adventure anyway.
It’s simply a case of choosing your platform and taking the plunge. You can launch from a bridge, building or cliff-face. Obviously, safety is of paramount importance and on any of the abseils listed below you will be supervised by experienced instructors for the entire duration of the event.
An abseil or zip slide for charity is challenging, rewarding and sure to grab the attention of many. Take a look through the abseils below and click for details of the challenge and charity/charities. You can enter a few basic details to be instantly emailed further information.
