This superb trek takes place in the foothills of the magnificent Indian Himalayas. After a short stop in Delhi, head to the enchanting town of Dharamsala, residence of the Dalai Lama with a distinct Tibetan influence. Before starting the challenge there is chance to visit the Dalai Lama’s house and monastery. The trekking route follows mountain trails offering spectacular vistas across sweeping green valleys and snow-capped mountain ranges. Sleep under canvas in picturesque surroundings far from the stress of everyday life. Finish with a visit to the Taj Mahal in Agra before flying home.
DAY 1: Fly London – Delhi.
DAY 2: Free time in Delhi. Sleeper train to Pathankot.
DAY 3: Coach transfer Pathankot – Dharamsala. Free time to explore Dalai Lama’s home.
DAY 4: Start trekking into mountains. 7-8 hrs
DAY 5: Hike through small villages to riverside camp. 7-8 hrs
DAY 6: Wonderful views of Dhaula Dahr mountain range. 6-7 hrs
DAY 7: Challenging day. Trek on glacier. 7-8 hrs
DAY 8: Steep descent to Dharamsala. Celebratory meal. 6-7 hrs
DAY 9: Morning free to explore Dharamsala. Transfer to Pathankot for overnight sleeper train to Delhi.
DAY 10: Early morning arrival Delhi. Optional visit to the Taj Mahal or free time in Delhi.
DAY 11: Fly Delhi - London.
