That's the new training regime Andrew is trying as an unconventional way to improve endurance for his ultra run in October.

2015 round up

Wow, what a year! I think it's fair to say that 2014 has been the hardest year work-wise for me for quite some time - trying to juggle growing the business with managing the rebuild of the entire website, whilst trying to keep kids happy, stay fit and, last but not least, stay married!

Le Tour arrives in town!

Thursday 3 July 2014 06.14 PM

With less than 2 days to Yorkshire hosting the start of one of the world's biggest sporting spectacles, the atmosphere across the county is really buzzing. Everyone's been talking about it for months but it's now feeling very real as the Tour de France show rolls into town.

Bike setup: it's all down to the legs now

Friday 20 June 2014 09.17 AM

Over the last few weeks I've been doing a bit of training for my second challenge of the year, the Ripon Tour Sportive in July - a 100 mile route picking up the TdF route through the Yorkshire Dales. This is road bike territory so I've had to dust off my old Cannondale CAAD 3. Once I'd given it a quick service, I thought I'd go for a spin into Nidderdale and see how it goes, despite some misgivings about gears and the setup. And that's when the fun began.

Fastest local in Fountains 10K

Tuesday 29 April 2014 08.01 AM

This weekend was the first of my 2014 'challenges' - the Fountains 10k, based in my home village of Grantley near the world-heritage site of Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal in North Yorkshire. For only the 2nd time in its history the race was full with 353 entrants setting out to test their mettle against a route which has earned a reputation locally as one of the hardest 10k's around.

Monitoring the effectiveness of your advertising

Monday 3 March 2014 04.02 PM

Last month I went in to a little too much detail about the challenges we face with email marketing. This month I've decided to focus on a subject critical to all of our customers and therefore very close to our hearts - monitoring the effectiveness of advertising spend, a question we get grilled about on a very regular basis!

Overcoming the five key challenges of email marketing

Thursday 6 February 2014 10.57 AM

On average over 20% of legitimate emails never reach the Inbox because people underestimate the complexities of email delivery and find that their emails either get rejected by the major ISPs (such as Hotmail and Google) or get put in the user’s Junk folder, never to be seen.

Visit to Alt-Berg, the Yorkshire Bootmakers

Friday 24 January 2014 09.43 AM

As well as the individual challenges each of us have agreed to take on in 2014 (mine is a triathlon, more of that later), we're also doing a Ben Nevis team challenge which involves 4 of us climbing Ben Nevis, cycling 25 miles and canoeing Loch Lochy in Canadian canoes. This is a new challenge which already has over 60 teams taking part so promises to be one of the best UK challenge events this year.

2013 round-up

Tuesday 21 January 2014 10.35 AM

Early January is always a good time to look back on the previous year, reflect a little and get focussed for the year ahead. Obviously we monitor progress more frequently than every January but it's always a good idea to compare progress year on year to make sure we're not missing the wood for the trees!
