Travel Media Sales Executive

You will be based at our fantastic new rural office in the Yorkshire countryside just 5 mins away from the A1 near Boroughbridge - an easy commute from Leeds, York, Harrogate, Wetherby & Ripon. No city-centre tower blocks, no traffic queues, free on-site parking, plenty of fresh air and a shower for cyclists and runners!

Are you who we are looking for?
Our values underpin everything we do, including sales. We work relentlessly to achieve results for our clients so you will need to be very focussed on ROI, not just sales targets.

You will be commercially-aware with a positive, can-do attitude and with previous sales or business development experience within a media sales environment, ideally with experience of selling digital media to the travel sector.

You will already have excellent verbal and written communication skills, numeracy skills and negotiation skills and you will be an active listener with a consultative approach to sales backed up with experience of CRM.

Ideally you will have worked on content-based campaigns and will be very comfortable working with editorial teams to plan and implement content-related opportunities.

What’s the role?
You will own all aspects of B2B revenue for the Trips section of the website working with clients ranging from the likes of Intrepid Travel to small owner-managed businesses across the UK, Europe and worldwide. Your role will be to sell our lead generation and advertising solutions to existing clients and win new business within 3 key areas:
  • Active travel industry - organisations providing activity days, holidays, courses and training camps across the UK, Europe and worldwide ranging from household names to small owner-managed businesses.
  • Tourist boards - representing regions in the UK, Europe and worldwide targeting the outdoors sector.
  • Media agencies - representing organisations looking to target the outdoors sector.
The potential market is massive and we are currently working with a tiny proportion of operators - so this is a fantastic opportunity to grow your own sector within the business.

You will report to the Head of Advertising and work alongside other media sales managers specialising in different sectors. You will have a 'hunter-farmer' mentality with an ability to win new business combined with the ability to retain & account manage.

Day to day responsibilities will include:
  • Sales - generating revenue from existing clients and prospects.
  • Sales admin - including CRM, forecasting & proposal management.
  • Account management - managing the client relationship and working closely with the Marketing Team to ensure excellent service delivery.
  • Business development - developing relationships with existing clients and prospects and working with the Content Team to formulate content-related opportunities.
  • Sector knowledge - developing a detailed knowledge of the active trips sector.
You should also be willing to go on activity days and press trips to help build client relationships and develop your knowledge of the sector.
