We'll head deep into the countryside away from the places where tourists normally visit this majestic structure.
You'll marvel at the panoramic vistas from watchtowers en-route and witness unrestored sections of the wall which date back to the Ming Dynasty.
The trek begins and ends in Beijing and includes a guided tour of the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square.
Day 1: UK - Beijing
Meet at the Airport for your flight to Beijing, China.
Day 2: Beijing to Great Wall area
We head into the mountainous regions that surround the Chinese capital. A trek briefing and inaugural team dinner set the stage for an unforgettable adventure.
Day 3: Jinshanling Loop (approx. 5-6hrs trekking)
And so it begins! Nothing can quite prepare you for your first sight of the Great Wall of China snaking its way across miles of mountainous valleys. Our route takes in part of the original wall; its staircases steep, crumbling and seemingly endless! It's all worth it for the stretching panoramic views.
Day 4: Gubeikou Gateway (approx. 7-8hrs trekking)
The longest day of the challenge, today we take on the demanding Gubeikou section of the wall. We climb steadily up past a number of time-worn watchtowers. The expansive views are no less impressive today as you head down through rugged farmland, before climbing up again to hike along the renovated Jinshanling section.
Day 5: Mutianyu Section (approx. 5hrs trekking)
Today we reach the pinnacle of our challenge at the tower of Zhenbeilou followed by a tough stretch which comes the reward of incredible vistas. We head to the Mutianyu section of the Wall for a challenging trek down the appropriately named "Heavenly Staircase".
Day 6: Huanghuacheng (approx. 5hrs trekking)
One of the most exciting sections of our journey, today we tackle the Wall at Huanghuacheng. From the small village of Xishuiyu, the trail meanders up through thick forest to the start of our scramble along one of the most challenging parts of the old wall, set against the spectacular backdrop of the Xishuiyu Reservoir and the surrounding mountains.
Day 7: Badaling (approx. 4-5hrs trekking)
The final day of trekking begins with a challenging ascent onto the recently rennovated part of the wall at Badaling. The views from the top will be just the reward you need to push on through to the last, very steep section and the end of the challenge
Day 8: Tour of Beijing
Relax and enjoy some of the cultural highlights of China's historic capital. A rich contrast of the old and the new, we visit Tiantin Park and the Temple of Heaven, where you can join the locals as they enjoy a morning of Tai Chi and Mah Jong. Shop the local market before touring Tiananmen Square and the magnificent Forbidden City. A final group dinner celebrates our achievements this week.
Day 9: Beijing - UK
Wave a fond farewell to Beijing as you head to the airport. Filled with a profound sense of pride, you return home armed with stories and memories that will last a lifetime.
