This incredible charity challenge starts in the historical city of Cusco, Peru. At 3,400m, it's the perfect place to help us acclimatise. This gives us an opportunity to explore this charming city and get a real taste of Peruvian mountain life.
We will spend our next few days climbing high into the mountains, through tropical Andean cloud forests and across high desert plateau. This unique alternative to the extremely busy Inca Trail is far off the beaten track, and you will see diverse and spectacular scenery as you glimpse a way of Peruvian life. We pass ancient archaeological sites before reaching the famous Sun Gate. It is here that we catch our first glimpse of the legendary Lost City of the Incas - Machu Picchu.
There will be plenty of time to explore this magnificent site, and after a night in Aguas Calientes, we then take the train to Ollantaytambo with exceptionally stunning scenery en route.
Coronary heart disease is the UK's single biggest killer but the BHF is leading the fight against it.
The British Heart Foundation is the nation's heart charity, raising funds for pioneering research that saves and improves the lives of vulnerable adults and children. Research breakthroughs keep thousands of hearts beating but we need your support - you are more likely to die of heart and circulatory disease then any other serious illness, including cancer.
