Supporting children and young people who are not expected to reach adulthood, and offer support to their families.
We’re all about life – helping those who may not live a long life to live a full life. We’re here to provide compassionate and expert care for seriously ill babies, children, young people and their families - when they need it the most. We’re here to create precious moments and happy memories. In the family home or in our family hospices, Demelza Kent and Demelza SEL. And if time is tragically cut short, we’re still here. To help ease the family’s fear and anxiety and move forward from their loss. As a charity, not part of the NHS, Demelza is reliant on fundraising, donations and gifts in Wills to raise over £10.5million needed every year to provide care to seriously ill children and their family.
That's why the fundraising work of people like Ben Smith (left) is so important to us. Ben's a keen runner who is taking on two marathons - Brighton and London - in a week in memory of his sister-in-law, Catriona. Demelza provided respite and end of life care for Catriona, who was born with an immune deficiency. Ben said: "We spent time there as a family. It was a nice environment. It didn’t feel medical." And he underlined how important Demelza was to the family when the 13-year-old passed away.
If you’re inspired to follow in Ben’s footsteps then please pick from one of our many challenges…
