This trek takes you to Everest Base Camp, an extreme challenge and not for the fainted hearted!
Day 1: International departure from London.
Day 2: Arrive in Kathmandu.
Day 3: Kathmandu internal flight to Lukla and trek to Tok-Tok Village (2,652m).
Day 4: Namche Bazaar (3,440m) - approx. 7-8 hours.
Leaving Tok-Tok, we cross the stunning suspension bridge over the Dudh-Kosi River and follow the trekking trail until we reach the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar, our destination for the night.
Day 5: Acclimatisation day at Namche Bazaar.
Day 6: Trek to Deboche (3,800m) - approx. 6 hours.
Gain exceptional views of Everest as we set off on a winding trail today. We'll finish by following the trail up to Deboche (3,800m), stopping to rest for the night under Ama Dablam peak.
Day 7: Dingboche (4,358m) - approx. 6-7 hours.
The path takes us past a long prayer mani wall and up towards Shomare. We'll now be climbing at high altitude above the Imjatse River. We'll take a lovely descent into the Imjatse Valley, as we reach Dingboche, our campsite for the night.
Day 8: Acclimatisation day in Dingboche.
Day 9: Loboche (4,928m) - approx. 5-6 hours.
We'll walk above Pheriche village from where we'll catch glimpses of the north Pokalde (5,741m). We'll stop at Thukla for lunch, before heading up a steep hill to reach the top. Prepare to be overwhelmed by the colourful memorial ground of fluttering prayer flags & monuments and take a moment to appreciate our achievement.
Day 10: Gorakshep (5,288m) - approx. 3 hours.
We'll set off on a rocky path and climb high above the glacial pond and icebergs of the Khumbu glacier. A short downhill walk will then bring us to Gorakshep, situated below Kalapatthar (5,545m) and Mt.Pumori (7,145m). Gorakshep was used by Sir Edmund Hillary as a base camp when he led the first expedition to Mt. Everest.
Day 11: Everest Base Camp (5,357m) - approx. 6 hours.
Some strenuous trekking at high altitude today, so it's important to listen to our Sherpas. The lively commotion coming from Everest Base Camp will help spur us on. After celebrations at the top, we'll retrace our steps to Gorakshep.
Day 12: Ascent of Kalapatthar (5,647m) and back to Pherice (4,245m) - approx. 3 hours.
Today we'll ascend the steep climb of Kalapatthar (5,647m) in order to achieve breathtaking views of Everest at the top. It's then back to camp in Pheriche (4,245m).
Day 13: Trek to Kanguma (3,550m) - approx. 5-6 hours.
We'll continue back along the Imja-Tse gorge via Pangboche and up to Tyangboche. Stay at Kanguma tonight, where our camp will be beside the raging torrent of the Dudh Koshi River.
Day 14: Kanguma to Chumoa (2,710m) - approx. 5-6 hours.
After a steep climb this morning from Kanguma, our path meanders through pine forests back towards the Sherpa capital. We'll stop for lunch in Namche, before continuing back to the river. From here, we'll head towards the park entrance at Monjo; then it’s just a short stroll to our campsite in Chumoa.
Day 15: Trek back to Lukla - approx. 3-4 hours.
We'll enjoy a pleasant walk as we tackle a few uphill climbs before our descent towards the Bhote Kushi River. En-route we’ll stop in Phakding. It’s then a final push to tackle the 45-minute uphill climb to the busy village of Lukla. We'll spend the night in a teahouse here where you'll enjoy a celebratory dinner with your team.
Day 16: Flight from Lukla to Kathmandu.
Day 17: Free day to explore Kathmandu.
Day 18: Depart Nepal and arrive back in the UK.
