Cycling from London to Paris is undoubtedly one of the greatest cycle experiences in Europe.
Through pretty Kent countryside, we cross the Channel at Dover and continue through along country roads, small villages and medieval market towns of Northern France, passing the famous battlefields of the Somme and Agincourt until the Eiffel Tower welcomes us in the chic city of Paris itself!
Explore the streets of Paris on your final day and head to the Champs-Élysées for the live finish of the Tour de France 2019.
Day 1: London – Dover - Calais (85 miles/137km)
Setting off early to avoid the morning traffic, we pass through the outskirts of the capital and quickly onto quiet roads to the rolling landscape and villages of rural Kent - passing orchards and traditional oast houses as we go. Country roads take us across the North Downs to Dover for our ferry crossing.
Day 2: Calais – Abbeville (71 miles/114km)
Following a deliciously hearty breakfast, we ride into beautiful rural landscapes pedalling parallel to the coast. After lunch we reach the picturesque valleys of the Canche River then towards Crécy-en-Ponthieu, site of the 14th-century Battle of Crécy. Our final leg brings us to Abbeville with its beautiful Flemish-style architecture on the River Somme. The Gothic-style cathedral has been restored to its former glory and is an awesome landmark for our half-way point.
Day 3: Abbeville - Beauvais (65 miles/105km)
We follow the River Somme in the direction of Amiens and on the way pass cemeteries and other poignant reminders of the thousands of men who died in the First World Way. We follow typically-French shady beech-tree-lined avenues into meandering valleys and traditional farming hamlets which is mostly flat through agricultural lands. Once again we end a successful day at a beautiful town. Beauvais is renowned for its large gothic cathedral.
Day 4: Beauvais - Paris (50 miles/80km)
From the river Théram south of Beauvais towards the great capital city! Small country roads, small towns and beautiful countryside take us to the suburbs of Paris where the excitement builds and we look out for the distinctive landmarks of the Eiffel Tower and the Sacré Coeur on the skyline. Upon reaching the River Seine we follow the northern esplanade in the shadow of the Bois du Boulogne until the Pont d’Iena and finish beneath the lofty arches of the Eiffel Tower! Congratulations!
Day 5: Back to UK
Enjoy the huge spectacle that is the Tour de France finale on the Champs Elysee!
