Grab your trekking boots and take on 'Los Tres Picos', also known as the Spanish Three Peaks.
In just 3 days trekking through the Sierra Nevada National Park, you will summit Alcazaba (3,371m), Veleta (3,394m) and finally Spain’s highest mountain – Mulhacén (3,482m).
You'll traverse demanding mountain terrain but you'll be rewarded with exceptional views throughout the Sierra Nevada National Park and incredible memories to last a lifetime.
Upon arrival in Malaga, we take the transfer to our hotel in Lanjaron. This evening we’ll have a group meal and a briefing about the challenge that lies ahead.
Today we'll ascend the north ridge of Veleta, the third highest peak in mainland Spain. The going is rough and rocky but the rewards are some. outstanding panoramic views, especially southwards over the Mediterranean Sea towards Morocco. We'll descend trackless slopes before contouring around a headland and reaching our overnight stay at the Refugio Poqueira for dinner
After heading into the Rio Mulhacen Valley, we'll ascend the steep, relentless west flank of Mulhacen, the highest peak in mainland Spain. We'll reach after about 4 hours, where we'll be greeted by a magnificent viewpoint and the whole 50km chain of peaks can be seen. We'll return down the long and gentle south ridge before dropping steeply south-west down to the Poqueira Refugio.
Get ready for your toughest day of trekking! We'll head to the Alta del Chorrillo before continuing up the south ridge of Mulhacen. At 3100m we traverse the eastern slopes to Siete Lagunas, a beautiful, tranquil spot consisting of seven lakes in a dramatic mountain setting. We climb to the valley head and take a steep scree gully between impossible looking cliffs before arriving at the summit plateau and hence the summit of Alcazaba (The Fortress). We'll descend down a small pass to Siete Lagunas and continue on to Trevelez. Our waiting transport takes us back through the Alpujarras to the hotel in Lanjaron or an evening of celebration and local cuisine.
Following breakfast at our hotel, we take the transfer to Malaga Airport for our flight back to the UK.
