"My reason for running for Prostate Cancer this year was due to my father-in-laws' recent diagnosis ... I am very pleased to say that I have raised a total of about £400 to date (with on line and off line sponsors!). The atmosphere on the day was fantastic with so much support and encouragement from the cheering crowds." Lynne Robinson, PCRC supporter
Therapy for advanced prostate cancer has changed little over the past 70 years and every year more men die of the disease - over 11,000 last year in the UK. Our mission is to develop new therapy for advanced prostate cancer and our long term vision is a cure for the disease. By helping fund our world class research, you will help increase the survival and quality of life of men with prostate cancer.
Funding medical research projects to improve the lives and survival for men with the disease, and secure a future without prostate cancer.
The mission of PCRC is to develop new therapy for men with advanced prostate cancer. The immediate goal is to increase survival and our vision is a cure for the disease.
The Prostate Cancer Research Centre is the only charity solely focused on funding world class scientists developing new treatments for advanced prostate cancer.
Prostate cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in men. Over 11,000 men die every year in the UK and the number increases every year.
Advanced prostate cancer is treated with hormone therapy, developed in the 1940s. Hormone therapy is still the primary and most effective treatment for advanced prostate cancer. Consequently, survival rates have improved little over the last 70 years. New and more effective therapy is urgently needed.
We are dedicated to improving the survival of the next generation of men and better treatment can only come through research.
