Event summary

Join a celebration of running

After a hugely successful debut in 2018 and follow-up in 2019, the Big Half is back for 2020! It's essentially a one-day running festival centred around a half marathon. Celebrating the amazing cultural diversity of London, this event promises a party atmosphere and a truly iconic route through the heart of London.

  • Finish at the Big Festival in Greenwich

The Big Half start time

The Big Half will start in waves from 9am. You will need to head to your assigned wave by 8:40am.

An iconic, landmark-filled route

2020 route TBC later this year. Last year's route took runners through four London boroughs, starting by Tower Bridge and finishing at the iconic Cutty Sark.

This 13.1-mile route goes through the four London boroughs of Tower Hamlets, Southwark, Lewisham and Greenwich.

Also happening this weekend

The Little Half - a fun, family friendly mass participation run for all ages and abilities. Entry is FREE to under 18's and just £5 for all other participants.

The Big Relay - exclusively open to community groups from the host boroughs of Southwark, Lewisham, Tower Hamlets and Greenwich. Participants will be able to run in teams of four, each person will run one leg of The Big Relay.

A celebration of London’s diverse culture, food and music which will take place throughout the day in Greenwich Park.

Spectator info

The best way for spectators to reach different parts of the course is via public transport. With many roads being closed throughout the day, London Overground and Underground train services are recommended. Make sure to travel light in comfortable clothes and be aware of how busy Greenwich will be around the finish area.

A great day out in Central London

There's plenty to do in London if you're looking to make a weekend of it.

Need something to entertain the kids? Take a ride on the magnificent London Eye or pop over to London Zoo in Regent's Park to meet over 650 species of animals.

Smile Train has changed the lives of more than 1.5 million children in 90+ countries through training and support given to medical professionals worldwide to enabling them to provide free cleft surgery.

Over 200,000 babies a year are born with a cleft but it can take only 45 minutes to perform the surgery. £150 raised can pay for a cleft surgery or even £30 can cover the cost of an overnight stay in hospital.
