Race through the centre of Sunderland and along coastal roads, in one of the North's biggest running events!
The first Sunderland city 10km was held in 2011 with just over 1500 taking part. 12 years later the Sunderland City Runs will welcome 5000 participants to the city streets in a celebration of running across a range of distances.
Come and join in one of the north's largest running events that races through the city and along the sea front, with two of its famous bridges providing a stunning backdrop to all three distances. No matter if you’re a first-timer or an experienced runner, the course and atmosphere are conducive to fast times as well as a lot of fun.
With spectacular coastal views and a brilliant atmosphere, a superbly organised event is guaranteed with plenty of support on the route and an army of enthusiastic volunteers to make it a great day for all taking part.
Everybody is welcome to run - no matter how fast you are!
If you do fancy racing, there are prizes up for grabs for podium finishers.

Loved the pre-race village and watching the participants of the5 k race, great having the events together. Lovely local route, taking in the coast and Roker park - should appeal to visitors travelling to take part from other areas. Great marshalling, had no problems.
