The late Irvine Butterfield was regarded as a champion of the Scottish mountains and was the ‘Writer in Residence’ for The Mountaineering Council of Scotland. He wrote many popular books including 'The High Mountains of Britain and Ireland: A Guide for Mountain Walkers' also known as 'The Bible' for hill-walkers. He was also founder and active member of the Crochallan Mountaineering club.
