This is my first Dream Challenge and I’m going for it big style! Bike ride from London to Paris over 3 days, raising funds for 3 very worthwhile cancer charities; ovarian cancer, breast cancer and cervical cancer. I need to raise a minimum of £1650 ten weeks before our challenge begins, this is a challenge in itself. I’ve never raised this sort of sponsorship money before but I’m very determined to get there. Wish me luck!
I loved this ride, the 1st of my longer distance treks. I now know I need to take on plenty of liquids and energy snacks every 20 or so miles. When I got home after this ride, I face planted the bedroom floor and slept for an hour!!!

Thought I’d try a new saddle and plumped for the Selle SMP which has some great reviews on YouTube
A fab purchase; no more sore lady bits. The ergonomic shape really suits me as I ride forward on my drop handlebars. There is a long, wide gap down the middle leading to a drop front nose. No pressure, no sores
We spent 2 weeks in a lovely hotel in the Dominican but did I laze around on the beach?? Yes I did but only after a good workout in the fantastic gym each day of my holiday
I worked on mainly cardio and of course some cycling on the watt bikes
I actually lost weight during my holiday which was an extra bonus!!!

After my last 60 mile trek, I set out this time with my supplies of hydro fluid, protein bars and energy gel. What a difference. I felt great at the end of the ride even though I had quite an early start following a good night’s sleep

My friend Alex has just been getting herself a new road bike, and very nice it is too
She was still a bit wobbly on it so we decided to go on a bike trail, The Water Rail Way. We set off from Lincoln and cycled to Woodall Spa, had a cup of coffee and headed back. This trail is actually 33 miles long cycling from Lincoln to Boston. We completed 40 miles and Alex did great. I ended the day with a puncture. Another note to self, carry a spare tube, tyre levers and pump!!!
Another 60 miles and I’m definitely feeling and seeing the benefits of all this extra exercise

Oh dear, poor Dom
He said I thought we were cycling together but I’m afraid as he’d persuaded me to just do a short ride, I felt I had to speed up a bit. I arrived home about 15 minutes before Dom and had to go out in the car looking for him. He said he’d hurt his back but I haven’t seen any sign of a sore back since then

Didn’t sleep very well last night so felt a bit weary when I set off and things didn’t improve
I’m glad I went out and feeling a bit more invigorated now

I’m taking part as an individual, but my friend Alex is also taking part in the challenge and raising her own £1650. We will be training together and giving each other lots of motivation and back slaps.
I’m a mum of 2 boys, a 25-year-old and 15-year old, so I’m no spring chicken, but I have lots of energy and zest for life. My friends are constantly taken aback at what I’m up to next.
