Spring Bank Holiday 2019 will see me take on my first marathon in the beautiful city of Edinburgh. Over the past 2 years I've racked up 50+ Parkruns, a dozen or so 10K's and a handful of half marathons - it's now time for the big one! After applying and being unsuccessful in the London Marathon ballot, I turned my sights to the fast, flat and scenic Edinburgh Marathon Festival, for what should be a great weekend away.
Fast, flat and beautifully scenic, this marathon route takes you around Holyrood Park with views of Edinburgh Castle.
I started running 2 years ago, with the long-term aim of pushing the boundaries on what my body can achieve. I wanted to know if I could translate the years of running around playing football into controlled distances of running, such as 5km, 10km and beyond. Parkrun was the obvious gateway into running for me, and I've been addicted ever since, continuously striving for a better PB and enjoying each run.
