Wilderness paddling is the main activity in Woodland Caribou.
With over 2,000 kilometres of navigable waterways, endless route options, over 1,000 documented campsites and world-class opportunities to view wildlife such as the woodland caribou, moose, black bears, beavers and wolves, this is Ontario’s top backcountry paddling destination.
With only 700 paddlers annually plying the Park’s waterways, absolute solitude is ensured!

His travels eventually landed him in Red Lake, Ontario where in 2011 he founded Red Lake Outfitters, an adventure tourism company that specialises in...

Best times to go:
There are actually two top seasons to visit the Park:
1. Early spring: Just after ice out, the Park is alive with spring meltoff. Rivers and creeks are moving, the trees are budding, wildlife are out in full force, and of course, the fishing opportunities are world class as walleye, pike and trout are up shallow and aggressively bite an anglers offering.
2. Mid-late summer: August is prime time for stable weather, virtually zero biting insects, great fishing opportunities and excellent swimming. For many, Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) viewing is also at its peak in August.
