Blacka Moor Chase – Trail Race

The race starts and finishes outside the Totley AC pavilion which is at the top of the field behind the Cricket Inn (GR302799 or S17 3AZ). There is an entry limit of 250. There are changing facilities and showers available in the pavilion. Blacka Moor is the fourth race of the annual Totley AC series of five races. The race starts from the cricket pitch outside the Totley AC pavilion. A lap of the field leads out onto a 1km tarmac stretch along Strawberry Lee Lane, a dead-end road. A short sharp climb heads up to the fell proper and the fields over Totley Moor lead to the top of Blacka Moor Woods. Here the route descends technical paths and tracks down the very steep ‘Piper Gate’. From the stepping stones there’s another sting before returning to Strawberry Lee Lane for a fast blast back to the cricket pitch. There are a number of exposed tree roots on the paths through Blacka Moor wood.The route is entirely on PRoW. Blacka Moor and Totley Moor are relatively self-contained with a main road (which is never crossed) surrounding its perimeter.
