Event overview
Hop Run, the friendly, laid-back event has a new start line for 2026 at the historic Aaron House in Penicuik. The route now takes in three castles as it winds its way from Penicuik through Roslin Glen and back to Stewart Brewing via Bilston Woods. The 5K version of the course also has a new start line at Roslin Glen Country Park.
Both routes make their way on great woodland riverside trails through the spectacular Roslin Glen before emerging blinking into the daylight at Stewart Brewing’s Taproom courtyard for a fantastic post-race party with live music, beer and pizza!

A greener Hop Run
Bring your own cup
Feed station cups are the event's biggest source of waste so they're no longer provided. There will be no cups at feed stations. Please bring your own reusable vessel or there are some available in registration for a small fee. You will need to carry this with you and use it on the course if you wish to take water at the feed station.
Optional t-shirt
Some of you love them and some of you don’t. If you’re the latter, you now have the option to donate the cost of your event tee to the run charity, Bright Sparks. You can make this selection when you sign up by choosing 'No T-Shirt'. Your entry cost will remain the same and the equivalent value will be donated to charity.
The Hop Run appreciates your help in ensuring minimal impact on the environment.
