The Festival once again consists of three races, and a prize presentation/party on Easter Sunday evening which includes many more ‘unofficial’ traditions. A huge part of the event’s atmosphere comes from visiting student teams, for whom the Easter trip to the Isle of Man is one of the highlights of their academic year. Good Friday sees the start of the festival with a 10k road race. Men and women run together although there are, of course, separate prizes for the men and women. There are also team prizes to be won and awards for the leading veterans and juniors. The race starts by the harbour in Port Erin and heads up to the Promenade and then out of town before following the picturesque coastal footpath to Port St. Mary harbour and returning to Port Erin finishing near to The Bay Pub by the beach. After the race, there is usually live music and food available from multiple locations.
