Event overview
Orienteering is an outdoor adventure sport that combines physical fitness and navigation skills. Use a detailed map and compass to navigate through unfamiliar terrain, aiming to locate a series of checkpoints in the correct order as quickly as possible. Orienteering challenges both the body and mind, as it requires strategic decision-making and quick thinking while running or walking over varied terrain.
If this sounds like something that would be of interest to you, join us at our nest event at Broadland Park! The area and it's neighbouring woodlands offers a variety of different types of forest to contend with from open and runnable silver birch, blocks of oak and chestnut; to mature forestry plantations. Mixed in with this are areas of open heathland, marshes, and heavily pollarded deciduous blocks. Although mercifully free of brambles and nettles, there is significant bracken growth underfoot and large areas of marsh making the terrain fairly physical.
