- 31.5 km fell running + 1580 m ascent
Event overview
In the process it starts in Yorkshire, visiting Lancashireβs highest point, then into Cumbria, and back into Yorkshire to return via some familiar landmarks. It covers 31.5km/19.5 miles with 1580m/5184feet of climbing, and is registered with the Fell Runners Association as an A-Long event. Starting at Mealbank Hall (SD 694 734) you will run up the road a short way, before turning off and heading towards Kingsdale. Navigating some rough open fell terrain to the first control at Gragareth, then some boggy fell-top running along the ridge towards Green Hill. From here, crossing the wall into Cumbria leads to a tough climb to Whernside trigpoint. A wild descent down the front of Whernside leads to Ribblehead followed by some of the best high-level running in the Dales, heading to Ingleborough via Park Fell and returning to Ingleton.
