A series of four fell races from May to September taking in the stunning North Dartmoor views.
Formerly The Great West Fell Run, the race has been renamed in memory of Marilyn Cooper. Senior Race - This race will take you to the highest point in the south of England. The 1,362ft ascent is tough enough to challenge any off-road runner but, at just five miles, it offers a rare opportunity for anyone to try their first fell race. The route is beautiful with stunning views over the county from Yes Tor and High Willhays (the highest point) before a welcome descent to Black Tor and down Homerton Hill to the finish at Meldon reservoir. There are a number of compulsory checkpoints at which all runners MUST give their number to the stewards. Due to difficulty of marking the course accurately, self-navigation is required by all runners. The race is licensed by the Fell Runners Association. Whilst there is no mandatory kit requirement if the weather is looking bad then a whistle, raincoat and hat is advisable. The race is self navigating so you may also want to carry a map and compass if not familiar with the course. Junior Race - Please print and complete the entry form. Registration on the day (due to walk to the start) Its a cracking straight up and down route on Longstone Hill. Minimum age of 8 years old. Under 9 and Under 11 age groups will run 2km, Under 13 and Under 15 age groups run 4km (they get a bit of boggy ground thrown in for good measure). Older juniors 16+ are able to race in the senior event. Prizes for 1st Place in U11, U13 and U15 Boys and Girls. Route can be seen on the website – go and have a recce!
