Job description

If you're an inspirational digital editor with a passion for the outdoors, #FreeYourself from your current role and join us on our mission to get more people active outdoors.

We’re on a mission and your ability to create brilliant content will be pivotal to growing our audience of 1 million visitors and building a thriving community.

What you’ll do
Your role is to devise and implement a content plan which will grow our audience from 1 million users in 2018 to 2.5 million in 2020 – just over 4% growth a month. As part of this, you will be accountable for:

  • CONTENT: publishing brilliantly engaging content on a regular basis and maintaining comprehensive up-to-date listings;
  • ENGAGEMENT: increasing engagement within social channels;
  • COMMUNITY: growing our community of people publishing & updating their goals; and
  • NEWSLETTER: attracting new subscribers to our newsletter.
You will lead the Content Team and manage all aspects of content delivery with support from listings assistants. You will report to the Founder and if required support will be available from our consultant Head of Content.

You will also help the digital marketing team create content to ensure the satisfactory performance of all lead generation and advertising on the website.

Requirements
You will have a deep understanding of the web and social media and bags of experience of creating brilliant digital content which has driven engagement and traffic and which you will be happy to showcase during the interview process. In the interview process we’ll also need to see:
  • A demonstrable understanding of our audience and passion for the outdoors;
  • An ability to communicate clearly and articulate complex ideas simply;
  • Evidence of someone who can learn quickly and keep pace with digital trends;
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and cope with change; and
  • A strong work ethic with a track record of getting things done.
Ideally you will have worked within the editorial team of a digital publisher where you gained experience of content planning and content-based advertising campaigns.

How you’ll be rewarded
As well as a feeling of satisfaction when people using the site achieve their goals, you’ll be rewarded with a competitive pay & benefits package which includes:
  • Basic salary of £30,000 a year
  • Bonus – profit-related quarterly bonus
  • Private health care - after one year
  • Pension - with an award-winning Defaqto 5 Star scheme
  • Childcare vouchers - opt to take vouchers in lieu of salary
  • 23 days holiday + public holidays - holiday increases with length of service
  • Free events - get the entry fee for your personal challenge or event paid for
  • Early finish Fridays - get the weekend started early with a 4pm finish every Friday
  • Quarterly off-site away days – combining work and play
To get to grips with the role, you will work at least 2 days a week at our fantastic rural office in the Yorkshire countryside just 5 mins away from the A1 near Boroughbridge - an easy commute from Leeds, York, Harrogate, Wetherby & Ripon. No city-centre tower blocks, no traffic queues, free on-site parking, plenty of fresh air and a shower for cyclists and runners!

The rest of the week you will be able to work remotely using our cloud-based systems - although given the importance of this role, you will need to be on-hand during normal working hours. This is not suitable for someone looking to fit this work around freelance commitments.

Referrals
We will pay £500 to anyone who refers to us a candidate who becomes an employee. A first payment of £250 will be made on successful completion of the employee's probationary period (usually 3 months); the final payment of £250 will be made after 6 months of employment.

No agencies please.
