Overview
Istead and Ifield Harriers is a welcoming club which ensures that nobody gets left behind. The focus is on road running and cross country but members to participate in track running, ultras, multi-terrain and triathlons.
The Club runs several competitions throughout the year including the Grand Prix, Captains’ Trophy, Winter Handicap and Club Championships and the ‘Summer Smash’ for members who prefer to participate in only shorter-distance races. In 2004 the Club took on full responsibility for organising the North Downs Run – a 30K trail race that has been voted one of the top races in Runners World.
Members meet on Monday and Wednesday evenings to train. The Monday session is particularly suited to less experienced runners, although all abilities are welcome. A programme of runs is issued each month, which will consist of speed sessions, hill reps, steady runs and faster runs of varying distances. All sessions are led by experienced run leaders and a group will be found to suit everyone.
The club has an active social programme and organises events such as curry nights, BBQ and occasional holidays.
