Event overview
Come and join in at the amazing Piglove By The River for the second AIRE Trails.
It's a lovely beer garden in the heart of Citu’s Climate Innovation District, where you can grab a picnic bench and admire the views with your complimentary pint of Piglove Brewing Co’s creative craft brews after you’ve run the race, of course. It’s the perfect spot for Sunday afternoon.
This event is part of AIRE Ultra Trail and Super Trail Half.

Overview
Public footpaths, riverside trails and tarmac paths.
This is a very fast and flat trail course with very good quality footpath conditions, as it follows the river it is incredibly flat, however, there are a couple of small bridges with steps that must be crossed. The course will be carefully signposted with pink arrows so you'll always know where to go.
Any road crossings and turnaround points will be clearly marked and marshalled.
The route passes both St Aiden's and Fairburn Ings Nature Reserves.
Headphones
Ideally not. It really is better to hear your fellow runners, listen to your breathing, and take in the atmosphere. But if you feel you just can’t run without them, headphones may be worn as long as you take responsibility for the volume to be low enough for you to hear all marshal instructions and the words of those around you. When approaching junctions or road crossings, you may be instructed to remove them until it is safe to put them back in.

The route was marked well. Loved the route mix of trail, gravel, road and paths. Quick and easy to register. Staff at the end were supportive. Regular emails and updates. Although it was clearly marked that it was only water at the stations...I am partial to crisps for added salt and savoury. They never travel well in my race vest. Looking forward to other events. Thank you for putting them on. Claire J
Amazing course and support, everything was top-notch. Can’t wait to race again next year! Ian M
Loved the ‘race hq’ very cute and friendly venue with awesome facilities. The course was really well marked and easy to navigate. Everyone was friendly and supportive. Loved the wooden medals, really nice to see some more sustainable choices. Would love to do another event in the future! Natalie H
Absolutely loved the event was my first marathon and it was well organised, lovely route and amazing volunteers. Thank you so much! Rachael W
All I can say is when is the next event? I really enjoyed myself, it was my first half marathon and I couldn't have had it any other way. I think as the event grows, the organisers will also learn and get more experience. For a first-time event, they smashed it. Well done! Hazvinei M
A great, low-key, event with a picturesque run alongside the river and canal. Disappointing that the turnaround point on the half marathon was so far out, it was a bit demoralising turning round at the checkpoint knowing that this was so over distance. Pig Love brewing as a race HQ works really well, excellent pint and sausage sarnie post rave and was chuffed to bits with winning the men's v55 prize and picking up a smart Inov8 cap. Martin H
Amazing course and support, everything was top-notch. Can’t wait to race again next year! Hannah W
Such a nice group of people to run with, positive and friendly organisers, lovely set up and food afterwards! Would recommend the event to other runners and friends. Leah G
Make the gps more accessible is the only thing. Cirilo P
Travelled from Hertfordshire, absolutely brilliant from the course to the friendly people, the course was scenic, to the very, very tasty apple and rhubarb cider and a second pint of course. Talks volumes as I don’t drink cider 🍺 🤣can wait to come back next year, do it, you’ll love it like me. Michelle B
Really great day and venue really enjoyed the event. Ben F

- Optional t-shirt
- Public transport links
T-shirts are often a standard provision of race entry, but this can sometimes mean you take home extras you didn't really want (or leave them behind!).
To ensure you get exactly what you want, there is now the option to add a t-shirt to your entry order. This means the event can minimise waste and keep down the cost of the standard entry for all.
If you fancy doing a good deed, you could also make a 'Trees not Tees' donation. This will pay for a tree to be planted...an ever-growing memento of your race day!
