Event overview

Welcome to a great day out! A.K.A the #icelollyrun

In 2025, £1 from every entry was donated to the upkeep of St Albans', Abbey View Running Track, and this event will be supporting the track again in 2026.

Those looking for a challenge can take on the scenic Half Marathon or Walking Half, which takes you on a challenging but rewarding closed-road route through the country lanes of St Albans.

The closed-road 10K will return and is open to everyone over the age of 15, starting alongside the half-marathon runners.

The 5K is open to everyone over 11, and is always a popular distance to take part in.

The Family Fun Run is open to all ages, however children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult with their own ticket, for any distance. If you would like to receive a fun run medal, you must purchase your own fun run ticket. This ever-popular Fun Run includes the primary School Challenge. Will your School be the winners this time? Please note the Family Fun Run is not chip-timed.

It's an annual event for us and we always love the atmosphere. Rav D

First time I've done the St Albans half marathon in almost 20 years and I absolutely loved it! The atmosphere was great, the marshals were helpful and supportive and there were plenty of water stations. I felt it was well organised and the course was really beautiful in places. There's no getting around the fact that it's a testing course but if you're up for the challenge it's a fantastic event to be part of. Highly recommend x Georgie R

The best race ever, the team ATW was amazing on every aspect, I would run this race again, and again, and again...Well done, guys! Gabriel P

First time running St. Albans half. Great event. Very challenging route. I’ll be definitely doing it again next year. Barbara M

Great Day. Great Organisation. Great event. Pat D

Another fabulous event by ATW superb organisation and a great festival vibe! I love this event! Kathe E

This was definitely one of the most enjoyable half marathons I’ve taken part in - not too hilly and not too flat, really lively great and great group of runners and marshals. Andrew S

I had the pleasure of being a pacer at this year's half marathon, it was my first time running this event. It was a lovely event, well organised, lots of facilities and plenty of info on where to park etc. Using the pacers to get everyone in position was a great idea, it helped people get to the right position in the start funnel. Personally, I enjoyed the undulating course, it was a nice mix and kept it interesting. There was only one tight section, but that was quite short, so it wasn't really an issue. Very well marshalled and supported by the local residents. Also, an ice lolly at the end, what's not to love! I will certainly be signing up again. Petra W

What a brilliantly run event. So impressed with the whole process from start to finish. A fantastic day out and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our day. Thank you ATW! Simon M

My son took part in the fun run. This was his first mini run and he loved it! He was so proud to get a medal at the end and the ice lolly was a lovely touch. A great event for the whole family. A lovely local day out. Kathleen B
