Event overview
If you like beautiful races in beautiful places, like fun, like medals and like goodies then this event is for you.
You'll enjoy a bespoke medal and lots of goodies at the finish line.

This event is part of the It's Grim Up North calendar of runs, offering a range of distances and levels of difficulty so there is something for everyone.
Famous for its low-key approach, all runners will be greeted with a warm smile and friendly chat.
The aim is to get you out running, help you enjoy the beautiful countryside with great camaraderie and for you to experience the sense of well-being you get when you cross that finish line.
You'll be shown that the North is anything but Grim.
This stretch of the Huddersfield narrow gauge canal has lots and lots of lock, which is wonderful going one direction and a little less wonderful the other direction. The course runs out to Tunnel End which is a 3.5 mile tunnel under the pennines where the canal boats used to go. You can still take a boat trip through or kayak on certain days.
There are a range of distances to choose from, so something for everyone, with a generous 6.5 hour cut off time. There are plenty of water and feed stations located on the course to make sure you're fully hydrated and fuelled up! You'll also meet some of the wonderful marshals along the course who'll give you lots of encouragement and help if required.
At the end, you'll be given a warm welcome, a bespoke medal, drinks and lots of lovely edible goodies.
This event is part of Sizzling in Slawit.

Really well organised, clear route, friendly marshalls, ace medal and goody bag. Rebecca P
Great fun on the hilliest canal around !! John W
Loved it, really friendly community vibe, smiling through the whole way with the local runners. Sweat treats at the end. Nice village to walk about after. Nicole B
I loved every moment of the 10k, it was such a beautiful course, there were no huge crowds or pressure on the day, which I loved. It was a really laid-back, give it what youβve got sort of race. Runners were encouraging and supportive of one another, as were the Marshalls. I loved the event from start to finish, the fantastic medal and goodies after were a huge added bonus. Also affordable event to enter and the pre-race information was better than any Iβve received from many other bigger events, and great access to facilities. I will definitely do it again and would 100% recommend it to anyone. Christina M
First time I've done a Grim Up North event. Really enjoyed the informal, friendly atmosphere, which made a change from other races I've done Mark G
