Overview

This historic site which has a hillfort at the peak of Mither Tap which dates back to 1000BC will be home to the inaugural Bennachie Ultra which will offer 50k of beautiful paths, trails and amazing 360˚ views around the North East of Scotland. The route will take in 6 of the peaks which make up the Bennachie Hills, including Mither Tap, Oxen Craig and Millstone Hill. With over 5000ft of elevation, it will be a challenge, but we're confident you'll find it worthwhile! The route is 31 miles, mainly on good runnable trails, with a short road section (3 miles). There will be a cut-off 4 hours, at approx. 18 miles, which is the closest point to the Visitor Centre, before the major climbs up on to the peaks. Given the time of year, the cut-off is essential for the safety of marshals and runners. The Bennachie Hill Ultra Marathon Hill Race is being run in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of Scotish Hill Runners. You MUST ensure that you are carrying minimum SHR kit for the entirity of the race.
