Overview

The Beyond Bristol 25km route starts at Museum Square (BS1 4RN) and heads alongside the Avon through the city centre, reaching the west of the city limits and the Clifton Suspension Bridge. Runners pass under the bridge, taking in some incredible, iconic views, before climbing through Leigh Wood Nature Reserve and crossing the bridge into Clifton. Here, the route turns and heads back towards the city. You’ll soon join the Frome Valley Way, before leaving the river to pass through Eastville Park.

The route then links with the Bristol and Bath Railway for approximately 6km, before joining Monarch Way for the final stretch towards the river and the heart of Bristol.

Waymarked route

There will be event-specific directional signs and confidence markers throughout the course. In the briefing before the race participants will be shown the course markers. GPX files can be downloaded from the event page to follow on the day. A sports GPS navigation device is recommended if you have one.

Terrain

  • 55km

    70% paved, 30% unpaved.

  • 25km

    82% paved, 18% unpaved.

The course features a mixture of surfaces. You can expect the terrain to be a mixture of footpaths, parks, woodland trails, riverside paths and disused railway lines. There are also steps in places. Dependent on weather conditions parts of the route may be muddy. Whilst it is not mountainous, there are hills in places that will provide a challenge for some participants.
