Detailed itinerary

  • Day 1 | Sunday 28 September

    Your Camino adventure begins!

You are advised to organise your flight to Santiago de Compostela Airport. The cost of the flights are not included in the cost of the tour, however, the pre-arranged transfer, at a set time from this airport to the start location, is included. Meeting time will be confirmed by the Events Team.

From Santiago de Compostela Airport, the private transfer will take the group to the starting point of the Camino 100 Challenge, Mount O’Cebreiro. This is a small, beautiful, traditional mountain village at the highest point of the challenge route.

After settling into your hotel, you will have some time to explore. In the evening, the team will share a welcome meal together whilst hearing about the adventure ahead.

    Included: Dinner.

  • Day 2 | Monday 29 September –  O’Cebreiro to Samos – 18.5 miles/31.4km

Start the 100 miles and begin walking from the top of Mount O’Cebreiro. Most people begin their journey from Sarria, so this part of the route is enjoyed for being less travelled and quieter. From here, descend towards the beautiful village of Samos.

Every day the landscape is stunning, but today you are very high so the view is truly exceptional. The hotel is situated at the bottom of the valley, where you will receive the first of many very big welcomes.

    Included: Breakfast and dinner.

  • Day 3 | Tuesday 30 September – Samos to Portomarin – 24 miles/36.7km

Today is a longer walk, firstly along the river and then into the forest, through the ‘town’ of Sarria. It is from Sarria where many pilgrims start their Camino trail, completing the required minimum distance of 60 miles in order to receive the Compostela certificate. From here move to the village of Portomarin. It is a beautiful little town and has a large reservoir, an old fortified church and the old main square where everybody meets at the end of the day and sit, have drinks and share food, telling tales from the day.

    Included: Breakfast and dinner.

  • Day 4 | Wednesday 1 October – Portomarin to Palas de Rei – 15.5 miles/25km

A shorter distance today and a chance for your legs to take it easy, starting with a beautiful walk that follows a path through forests.

    Included: Breakfast and dinner.

  • Day 5 | Thursday 2 October – Palas de Rei – Salceda – 26 miles/41km

By now, you have completed more than half of your challenge!

Today you will be crossing several valleys and passing by the town of Melide, one of the most important towns on the way. Finish in a quiet and beautiful town known as Salceda, where the group will stop and relax for the evening.

    Included: Breakfast and dinner.

  • Day 6 | Friday 3 October – Salceda to Santiago – 16 miles/28.8km

The last glorious day. As you walk through the quiet country roads and tiny villages, stretching towards Santiago, you will reach the Monte do Gozo from where you will get your first glimpse of the city of Santiago in the distance.

As you enjoy the entrance into the city, you will finally reach the old city of Santiago de Compostela in time to experience the Pilgrim Mass and the famous swinging of the Botafumerio, which is a highlight for all pilgrims.

Stay in a hotel situated in the central part of the city. Tonight the group will have a celebration meal together!

    Included: Breakfast and dinner.

  • Day 7 | Saturday 4 October - Santiago de Compostela

A free day for you to experience and explore this amazing city; enjoy all it has to offer from the culture and historic centre, boutique shops, delicious foods and wonderful restaurants.

    Included: Breakfast and dinner.

  • Day 7 | Sunday 5 October - Home time

When we signed up for the Camino de Santiago for Walk the Walk, we knew this would be more than just a hike—it was a chance for healing and a meaningful way to honour and remember loved ones. Cate and Meryl

I recall seeing all the little chapels along the way, just standing and taking a breath, the Tetley tea shed stops, muscle rubs and singing Christmas songs along the trail.. I loved the morning group hugs, following the Camino arrows, counting down the kilometre markers, sharing the words “Buen Camino with other pilgrims and collecting stamps in my pilgrim’s passport. I remember the lemon Fanta tasting soooo refreshing and arriving in Santiago to the sound of bagpipes.. The money we raised will help so many people and has helped change my story. Everyone needs to experience the Camino journey which I will always carry in my heart. Julia
