Event overview

Our aim is to be a friendly race for all abilities and to be as inclusive as our course safely permits – we welcome buggies and guided runners but ask that you check out the route and contact us before entering. The Commonweal 5 Mile was etablished in 2012 and all money raised from the event supports The Commonweal School. It is a chip timed race along a scenic course that has a sting in its tail…! Starting (and finishing) on the school playing field, the route descends along paths from Old Town onto the Old Town Railway Path, to a flat middle section along by the Waitrose supermarket and the lakes and canal at Wichelstowe. The final section of the route involves a steady climb back up to Old Town. You deserve a treat, whether you are running or spectating! The PTA serves refreshments including bacon butties and a drooling selection of homemade cakes. Toilets, showers and changing facilities are available in the school’s modern gym. If you are over the age of 15 you can enter the race, but due to the quality of the running surfaces and steep steps along certain stretches of the route, the race is challenging for buggies and wheelchairs. Race numbers are collected from Race HQ at Commonweal School on the day.
