Get a marathon PB

Copenhagen Marathon is built for speed. The famously flat, fast course winds through the heart of Denmark’s capital, backed by loud crowd support and expertly managed pacers. With cool spring temperatures and smooth road surfaces, it’s a top choice if you’re chasing a personal best or Boston qualifier—while still soaking up the atmosphere of a world-class city marathon.

Run for charity

Taking on Copenhagen Marathon for charity turns your 26.2 miles into something truly meaningful. By running for a cause you care about, you’ll help fund vital research, life-changing support services and community projects—while gaining extra motivation on race day. Many charities offer training support, fundraising advice and cheer squads, helping you feel supported from signup to finish line.

What are charity places?

Overview

The route winds through the heart of Copenhagen, through historic streets, shimmering canals, and wide boulevards filled with people who don’t just cheer, they lift you. From the edge of Vesterbro to the calm of Østerbro, from the pulse of the inner city to the water along the harbourfront, every neighbourhood adds its own rhythm to your run.

It’s a course where landmarks meet lactic acid. Where history and heartbeat merge into 42.2 kilometres of pure motion. You pass the Lakes, Amalienborg Palace, the Marble Church. You feel the roar on Dronning Louises Bridge, the echo through the narrow city streets, and that feeling of freedom as you reach colourful Christianshavn, cross Langebro, and hit Islands Brygge — with the city skyline rising ahead of you.

My favourite European capital doesn’t disappoint with its marathon. A wonderful route around the city with a pan-flat course and plenty of pacemakers makes it ideal for anyone hunting a PB or Boston qualifier. The looped city-centre route is great for spectators too. The expo is small and a little out of the centre, which is my only criticism. A massive student and teacher discount was a bonus — how many races offer that! Marc P

The course is fast and flat, ideal for a PB, though slower runners are in the minority... Copenhagen also wasn’t cheap and it was very warm on race day. Lisa J
