Event overview

Experience fast, exciting and spectator-friendly racing in the heart of Torquay. Starting with a sea swim from the sheltered Torre Abbey Sands, the event combines a scenic coastal setting with closed-road racing for a true summer highlight.

The bike course is a flat and fast 5K closed-road circuit – perfect for those chasing speed or enjoying the thrill of a multi-lap race in front of cheering crowds. The Sprint distance and Aquabike events will be drafting races, while the Standard distance remains non-drafting.

The final run is mostly flat along tarmac and pavement, offering stunning sea views to spur you on to the finish line. Torre Abbey Meadows hosts the transition area, finish line, podium and a welcoming event village, creating a buzzing race-day atmosphere.

There’s something for everyone, with open water swims and junior races adding to a packed schedule.

Great venue in the heart of Torquay!

Thank you so much for a fantastic event. It was so well organised and so friendly. Really enjoyed the day. Thank you. Natalie P

A fantastic first time doing a sportiva event and my first ever standard distance triathlon. The course was very well organised and a great route. The professional photos were also great which showed that I really did smile through every minute!! Would recommend to anyone wanting to race, especially a first timer and I would do this race again! Scarlett W

Thank you so much for organising this event, fab in every way! I really hope the event will be on next year! Kerry C

This was a great event. The atmosphere was superb and the marshals were all very supportive and encouraging. Linda D

Excellent event. As per usual with sportiva events a friendly locally organised no frills event. A rare treat to cycle on closed roads. Setting was lovely. Thank you. Robert S

Very good event. Great to have closed roads and well laid out routes. Luke W

Good fun, good atmosphere. Janet B

Supportive and friendly atmosphere. Fantastic venue for family and friends spectators with the laps easily accessible to view. Superb marshalls and public tannoy system. Greg B

This is a great race for those looking for a sea swim, with a reasonable entry fee, and travel is easy enough with the event centre next to a train station. MIchael T

I love the Sportiva events and this one is no different. the right balance between well-organised and suitably low-key. The routes for the swim bike and run were great. Fantastic being closed roads well. I would highly recommend this to others both novices and seasons competitors. Jamie D

Amazing. William R

This event is doing its best to minimise the environmental impact of this event. Here are a few of its initiatives:

Sustainability

  • Trees not tees

For all events which include a t-shirt, there is the option to plant a tree instead through a partnership with Treesnottees

  • Avoid single-use plastics

New paper cups have been sourced to be fully recycled back into high-grade paper.

  • Optional medals

Lots of competitors are not interested in finishers' medals so they are now optional. A Β£2 charity donation is made for every medal not selected.

  • Swim hats on request

Swim hats are provided for open water swimming events as they help the water safety teams keep track of swimmers. However for all pool events, swim hats are now on request to reduce wastage.

  • Reuseable zip ties and recycling

Reusable zip ties are used and all rubbish is sorted for recycling after the event.

  • Reducing car use

At the Burrator 10K running race those who commit to walking or cycling to the event get Β£5 discount.
