Overview
There is a main loop not exceeding 20 miles. This will head out from the event village. All riders will head out on the first 20 miles.
Cut off
4pm.
All riders will complete the main 20-mile loop. This can take until 4pm if required.
Those who complete the main 20-mile loop before 1pm can choose to continue onto the second loop. This is an extra 10-15 miles.
Access
Some of the route is over environmentally sensitive ground. To arrange an event in an area like this is difficult; please ensure you stick to the way-marked route and don’t cut corners.
Navigation
The route will be well way-marked and separate colours used for each loop. Major hazards and awkward junctions will be marked with black/yellow signage. You are asked to carry an Ordnance Survey map of the local area and transfer the route onto this prior to the event. Riding with your head down and not paying attention could result in you going off course. Follow the route way-markers with care.

Great event on well marked trails. Awesome Tribe crew throughout the course and start/finish area. Will be back. Dan M
Amazing event as always. Luke J
Exmoor Explorer remains on my event calendar to do, even after 18 years. The riding is always a big day out with epic hill climbing and fun descents as well as the rivers, trails and lanes we criss-cross along the way. I love riding in all the different locations it takes us to, with pretty much a new route every year that stays true to the 'explorer' name - I'd never find these places on my own. Great bunch of event crew always cheery and super helpful. If you only do one event, do the Exmoor Explorer! Paul W
Exceptional terrain plus fellow riders for company, conversation and inspiration. Magnificent route, caring check point crews ... to see you through. Long range landscapes memories to keep with you. Exmoor Explorer extra loop to dig deep into. Thank you! Cheers, John W
Undoubtedly one of the best organised rides I have done. Really well organised, marked out and friendly. I can't make the Quantock quake but if the events are run again next year I will book in all 3 early. A massive thank you to all the staff and organisers. Chris A
Absolutely fantastic!! The route was superb and marked out so well and easy to follow, the welcome you get from everyone is so amazing, to ride with others that are so helpful and encouraging it truly has been the best ride yet to date!!! Joanne L
Good event, route was an improvement on the previous years with some nice flowy decents and and a few techy areas, water crossings climbs were challenging but more down to some areas being boggy (British summer for you) but you have plenty of time to get round at a relaxed pace. Barry M
What a fab event. Really well organized, friendly and a whole lot of fun. This was my second year taking part and I hope to be back for many more. Adam M
This was one of the best mountain bike events I have done. Mark T
I first did this event 21 years ago! After a break we returned this year and it is still a superbly run event, with great fellow riders, enjoying a brilliant route across a beautiful part of the country. Thanks for a great weekend Don’t miss this event ! Jame I
