Route description

The Jones o Gymru Anglesey Half Marathon starts and finishes at the Anglesey Showground, a wide-open setting with a spectacular panorama of Eryri (Snowdonia) rising across the Menai Strait. With the Carneddau and Glyderau peaks forming a dramatic skyline, runners set off with one of the most inspiring start-line views in Wales.

This entirely closed-road half marathon is a celebration of historic rural Anglesey, far-reaching mountain vistas, and the quiet beauty of the island’s countryside. From the first steps to the final sprint, it’s a route that feels both scenic and deeply rooted in place — a true Anglesey experience.

Cut-off time

In the interest of athlete safety and the safety of volunteers on the course there will be strict cut-off times in place. A confirmation of specific cut-off times will be detailed in your Final Instructions which will be available on the website 10 days prior to the race.

Runners arriving at Gallows Point (approx. mile 10) more than 2½ hours after the race start time will not be permitted to continue in the race. There will be a shuttle vehicle available to collect those who have not made the cut-off.

If you are still taking part in the race when the road re-opens, you will be asked to move to the pavement for your own safety.

Finish line timing will finish at 13:00.

Truly fantastic race! I will definitely be back - the start line is fantastic, the views throughout are spectacular and a massive thanks must go to the locals who came out in force ringing their cowbells to support every runner.

This was a lovely race. Well organised with good pre event info. Amanda C

This was my first half marathon. Runners of all types. The hilly bits are not too bad actually, was a bit scared but by the time I got there, the spirit of the experienced runners lifts you through. Tuheen H

Brilliant, gorgeous and unique race with awesome start location and so much support along the way. Ali L

This was without doubt the most picturesque 10k I've done to date. Running down underneath the bridge was amazing. Clive P

It's my 6th visit to the Anglesey Half Marathon. And it still remains my favourite road race. Si F

I thoroughly enjoyed the Anglesey Half Marathon. The scenic, undulating course started promptly, no messing, straight into the race. The support, be it marshals, supporters and participants were all great sports! San B
