Overview

Dusk till Dawn trail run of circa 30 miles in a circular route over the beautiful North York Moors National Park. Starting and finishing in the village of Goathland, where the 60s Police drama Heartbeat and scenes from Harry Potter were filmed. Starting and finishing at Goathland Village Hall you will visit 4 Triangulation Pillars, North, East, South and West, before heading back to the Village Hall. The event start and finish times will be dictated by the setting and rising of the sun in June.  So it will be a true run through the night, dusk till dawn … Entrants will register and collect numbers etc an hour before last light, then the event will begin when the Lamplighter appears, it will be up to you to be ready to go… You will then have until the sun comes up above the horizon and the Lamplighter returns to get back to the village hall, but don’t despair you will still get a finishers memento if you beat the flag. As soon as the Lamplighter has snuffed out the lamp a flag will be raised  at the village hall a little bit at a time, every 20 minutes, until it is at full mast…. Lamplighters have been around in various forms since the 15th century , arriving with their lighting equipment and helper to hold the ladder as they ascend to light the lamps as night draws in. The course will be marked and will take you over over good tracks, open moorland and forestry. Each entrant will be given a tracker. There will be a gpx and master map of the route, it is also planned that there will be some recces of the route. You can enter as a pair or a solo, cost is £70 or £35 respectively. Hot food will be available at the end, this will include some vegetarian and gluten free options. Along with snacks nibbles and pop at the half way point. Entrants will be able to get their heads down before travelling home in the village hall if they wish. Parking is limited to marshals within the village hall, however there is ample parking within the village. Four legged runners are welcome but they must be kept on a lead at all times and will start at the back of the pack.
