Event overview

Mickle Fell is a BL race; 28km with 950m ascent which visits the highest point in County Durham. This is a very tough route and you should only enter if you have fell running experience and navigation skills sufficient to know you can safely complete the course. The majority of the route is in the Warcop MoD firing range which has no public access except as detailed here. You MUST NOT enter the range outside of the dates listed as you will put the future of this race under threat and are likely to be shot. The course is remote, several sections are over very rough, boggy, unpathed ground, a wide (and possibly fast flowing) river needs to be crossed twice, there is no mobile phone signal on any of the course. The course is unmarked. You will need to have navigation skills to get round the course. The use of GPS for navigation is not allowed (GPS devices/watches can be used in the event of an emergency, to track your run or to display distance, pace & altitude). No walking poles are permitted.
