  • 1km foot navigation phase

Route

  • Foot phase

A short undulating run on grass and a little pavement around the truffle field and chicken farm at Penllyn Estate will warm you up for the adventure ahead.

foot phase
  • Cycling phases

The cycling is on hard and soft-packed trails. There will be some ascent and descent on small stoney tracks and grass, and if wet, it’s likely to be very muddy in places – it will be an adventure! There will be a small section of road. Helmets must be worn. One checkpoint will be at the top of the hill on the long course only.

cycling phase
  • Kayaking phase

The kayaking phase will be around four buoys in the lake. There will be plenty of water safety, and there will be support and instruction if required. All kayaks and kayaking equipment is provided. For this event, the kayaking phase will be midway around the bike course, so there will be a small transition area for you to leave your bikes. You may want to carry some waterproof trousers in your bag for the kayaking phase, as you will get a wet bottom! Also, if you wear bike shoes, you may want to carry your trainers as the foot orienteering phase will also occur here.

kayaking phase
  • Foot navigation phase

Straight after the kayak, you will be given a map featuring five checkpoints. All you need to do is find them! If you choose to race competitively, there will be time penalties for any checkpoints not found. You will then get back onto your bike to finish off the rest of the course. There will be a finish checkpoint at the end of the course.

It was our first adventure race and we both had a lot of fun. I must admit that I got very emotional before we started as this was something that I could do with my young son and we could do it together, it meant the world to me. Anthony Leadbetter

review

Thoroughly enjoyed despite the weather. The mud just added to the experience. Family events are amazing and the way to capture youth inspiration early. Did the world of good for family bonding too. Would enter the next family event now. Kids loved it! Thank you. Robert Llewellyn

My son and I really enjoyed the day despite the weather. He hasn’t stopped talking about it because he came 3rd and he can’t wait for the next one. Thank you. Team ScottLuck

It was my sons first event and I bought it for his six birthday as he is always nagging to come training with me. We both enjoyed it and it was special doing it with him as many events are split into adult and children sessions. Len Williams
