- 26.2 miles walking
Event overview
Take on the full marathon distance of 26.2 miles on one of the region’s most popular hills. This fully guided walking marathon is designed to be achievable for all hill walkers, while exploring every corner of the Moel Famau area.
It’s also an ideal event if you’re training for your first ultra, giving you valuable hill miles in a supportive, well-structured setting.
Highlights
A fully guided experience
Every group is led by professional Mountain Leaders, so there’s no navigation stress at all. You simply focus on walking, pacing yourself, and enjoying the views.
The route and support
The 42.2km route is definitely hilly, with nearly 2,000m of ascent. Along the way you’ll benefit from regular support, including water stations at 10km and 31km; event HQ at halfway (21km) with toilets, feed station, access to your bag drop and spare supplies, and water roughly every 10km.
Event-day atmosphere
This is a proper event experience, not just a walk, with: a start and finish line; a busy, welcoming event HQ on the slopes of Moel Famau; start in your chosen time group, selected during registration; a warm welcome back with your medal, a certificate and big congratulations after completing the marathon. Even if you know Moel Famau well, the route is designed to take you to places you may not have visited before.
Why take part?
Set yourself a motivating goal for spring. This event is perfect for staying active through the winter months, building fitness and confidence, and starting the year on a positive, focused note.
