Event overview

Starting and finishing at Gusted Hall Lane near Hockley, this popular 10K follows a scenic circular route on woodland paths and bridleways through some of Essex’s most beautiful countryside. 

Run through Hockley Woods and Grove Woods before returning via Gusted Hall Woods to the finish, with friendly local support, chip timing and a welcoming community race atmosphere.

The Rayleigh 10K follows a scenic circular multi-terrain route through the woodland trails and countryside around Hockley in Essex. Starting on Gusted Hall Lane, runners quickly head onto forest paths and bridleways that weave through the peaceful surroundings of Hockley Woods. 

The course continues through Grove Woods and surrounding woodland tracks, offering a mix of compact trails, natural paths and gently undulating terrain. The varied surface keeps the run interesting while remaining accessible for runners of all abilities. 

As the loop winds back toward the finish, runners pass through Gusted Hall Woods before climbing to the finish area. With tree-lined trails, quiet countryside and supportive marshals along the way, it’s a classic Essex trail race with a friendly local atmosphere.

Parking

There will be approximately 150 car parking spaces available at Clements Hall Leisure Centre, Clements Hall Way, Hawkwell SS5 4LN, What3Words ///appendix.opposing.hence  which is approximately 1 mile from Gusted Hall Lane and approximately a 10-15 minutes walk.

If you use on-street parking in the vicinity, please park considerately and ensure that access for residents and emergency vehicles is not restricted. It would be appreciated if you could car-share.
