Event overview

The RIDE Tommy Godwin Challenge was set up to honour the memory of 1948 Olympic cycling medallist Tommy Godwin.

Tommy enjoyed cycling in the Warwickshire lanes and, in later years, was always keen to encourage other cyclists, whether established stars or total newcomers. With this event, the aim is to replicate Tommy's experience of enjoying the countryside in Warwickshire and Worcestershire and his vision of encouraging more people to get out cycling.

The Tommy Godwin Challenge is brand new for 2026 so these are from one of the other RIDE series:

This was a great event - beautiful route, well organised, supportive people, decent food and drink and a really fun atmosphere to it. Highly recommended. Luke M

Overall a solid event. Iโ€™d do it again! Richard C

This is one of my favourite Action Medical rides I participate in and have done so every year from 2017. Great signage and back up. Always happy to support Action Medical and the rides they organise.

Great course, challenging but also flowing flat sections. Great support staff and food stops had good savoury as well as sweet selection. David H

Great organisation and thoroughly enjoyed the route. I will definitely enter a future sportive!

Loved this! This was my first official cycling event and it was brilliant! Communications with the team prior to the event were spot on, really helpful. The day itself was brilliant and really well organised and signposted and follow up comms have been good too. I will be back to book another event! Thank you for being so accommodating in my requests to change route too!

I had a great day, I thought it was well organised and your volunteers were all lovely.

Thanks for organising the ride. Had a great time. It stretched me but was really glad to make it round. I've always enjoyed Action Medical Research rides and thought the venue of Tonbridge Castle and the ride round the North Downs was great.

Incredible feed stations. Real food, cups of tea. Smaller event and it was all the better for it. Gray W

Had an amazing day out on the bike . The event was well organised, street markings were spot on (apart from one within the first 10 miles where a member of the public probably turned it around causing a bit of chaos) and feeding stations properly equipped. Thank you ! Robert B

Great event with a cracking ride around Kent. Route was excellent and well supported. Simon G
