A walking version of Britian's Tastiest 10K.
Taking inspiration from the Marathon Du Medoc in France, the Malton 10K is a fun and tasty task rather than a literal 10K race.
Malton is renowned as Yorkshire's Food Capital, so naturally on this 10K walk you get to stop along the way to sample some of the finest food and drink on offer. The 10K course starts and finishes in Malton Market Place and along the route you take in stunning Yorkshire countryside including a section of the Howardian Hills ('Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty') and you even get to walk along Richard Fahey's famous Gallops where plenty of winning racehorses have been trained.
The 'L'escargot' category is perfect for people who don't want to train for a run at all, this one can be walked in around 2 hours - so bring the dog, bring the kids, bring your granny!
It's completely optional, but participants are encouraged to come in food-themed fancy dress and have a laugh whilst sampling the great views and fantastic food/drink stops. Just like 'Le Classique', this one features food and drink from some of Yorkshire's finest producers based in Yorkshire's Food Capital - Malton.
This event is suitable for wheelchairs.
The route takes in roads, footpaths, fields and forest paths. There are kissing gates, steps and slopes along the course, which means the course may not be accessible to all. There have been participants in wheelchairs before but they have been able to get out of the wheelchair to hobble through the gates with friends lifting the chair over the top.
Some parents have also completed the course with children in off-road pushchairs (lifting the pushchair over the kissing gates).
'L'escargot' is the only category that is open to under 15's - but please note, anybody under the age of 18 will not be permitted to take the samples on offer from the alcohol producers.
'L'escargot' is intended to be a walking event and is therefore suitable for all ages.
