Itinerary

  • Day 1 | London - Newhaven - Dieppe (98km/60 miles)

An early start allows the group to avoid the morning traffic and pass through the outskirts of London onto quieter roads. Continue south towards Croydon, riding through beautiful rolling Surrey countryside and small, quiet villages. Heading further south a long climb takes the group into Sussex; then follow rolling roads up and over the beautiful chalk downs and descend into the harbour town of Newhaven. Board the ferry and have dinner en-route to Dieppe. Night hotel. (Dinner on ferry not included).

  • Day 2 | Dieppe - Beauvais (114km/70 miles)

Leave the busy port behind, heading south east and quickly emerge into typical French countryside. Passing a few small villages, ride through the small, 12th-century town of Neufchatel-en-Bray and continue on small roads through farmland and pockets of woodland. Most of the route rolls along through this beautiful rural scenery, though there are a few longer climbs. The day ends at Beauvais, a town renowned for its large Gothic cathedral. Night hotel.

  • Day 3 | Beauvais - Paris (80km/50 miles)

The final day’s cycling takes the group south of Beauvais towards the great capital city. Following small country roads head towards the small town of Meru and continue south through beautiful countryside, with a few steep climbs to test the legs. From the suburbs of Paris enjoy a flat run-in, looking out for the distinctive landmarks of the Eiffel Tower and the Sacré Coeur standing out on the skyline. After finishing beneath the lofty arches of the Eiffel Tower, head to the hotel and get ready for an evening of celebrations to mark the achievement. Night hotel.

  • Day 4 | Paris - London

After breakfast head off to the Gare du Nord for the Eurostar train back to St Pancras, where you will be reunited with your bike. Say our farewells and head for home. (Lunch and dinner not included).

The difference you make

Julie has taken on the London to Paris Cycle Challenge in 2022 and 2023 as a way to say thank you to The Royal Marsden and raise awareness towards thyroid cancer treatments in the future.

Julie

I decided to raise funds for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity because the research that is carried out at The Royal Marsden is going to benefit all of us – and not just patients now, but patients in the future too. By fundraising for The Royal Marsden, you are giving a future without cancer the very best chance of success.

Thanks to supporters like you, the charity continues to be there for everyone who needs it, making sure the nurses, doctors and research teams at The Royal Marsden can provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments, which are used across the UK and around the world.

This challenge is not to be taken lightly as it’s all about the ups and downs. But the spirit of the group is what makes this adventure one of a kind. The crew are truly amazing and will do anything and everything they can to make you feel great throughout. Even if you feel out of place, no-one is turned away but welcomed as family. Steven

A truly enjoyable, demanding and exhilarating challenge...and yes, it is a challenge. But worth it! Thank you. Stuart

The other participants doing the ride, as well as the crew were great and really kind. It was such an amazing experience, and the people made it more so. Alex

I was somewhat anxious about this challenge, as at 72 I thought it may be one step too far! However, I started training early in February using the training guide provided. I completed 5600 training miles over 28 weeks, which stood me in good stead. This was certainly an excellent challenge, well organised and managed. Alan

What an incredible event! It was super organised and so helpful, all we had to do was cycle and the rest was done for us! There was so much support from the start. Now just researching Paris to Geneva... Nicola

Picture postcard cycling, with fantastic support and food en route. Daniel

I went out of my comfort zone and signed up for this trip alone. Everyone was great and I had the best time. Yes, it was hard, but if it was easy, I wouldn’t have signed up! The food was fantastic, with plenty of choice and the mechanics were brilliant. I thoroughly enjoyed this challenge, and I'm looking forward to the next one! Nik

I signed up as a solo cyclist and had the best experience. The crew were amazing, so lovely and welcoming and everyone else on the trip just made the whole experience. The organisation was incredible, I didn’t have to worry about anything other than cycling! Would 100% recommend to anyone! Poppy
